Melissa Joy Manning has been recognized for trail-blazing sustainability standards within the fashion and design industry.  Her eponymous fine jewelry business spans nearly three decades with success metrics including a Green-certified workshop, three retail boutiques and a global wholesale business with partners such as Net-a-Porter and Liberty of London.  Manning is recognized for her iconic designs such as handmade chains and the now prevalent “Hug” earring, as well as conceptualizing the raw stone trend.

In 2013, Manning co-founded the CFDA Sustainability Council to educate and encourage a collective movement towards a transparent, eco-friendly design process.  Manning has recently transitioned operations from her original Berkeley-based workshop to Brooklyn, New York where she is set to introduce the next generation of meaningful making.  Manning’s steadfast commitment and reverence for the natural world continues to influence countless artisans, designers and informed consumers.
